Getting nervous

I am three days away from being banded, and there are time when wonder if I am doing the right thing. Going through surgery is not to be taken lightly and I am feeling the jitters.

I keep reading the blogs and forums here, and some are helping, but there are those who make me want to back out. I know that this is normal the closer you get to the actual date.

I wish you the best of luck! I am also scared but I figure that I would rather have a planned surgery than have to have emergency surgery from a heart attack, stroke and everything else that comes with the complications of being fat. I have never had surgery before but I am a nurse manager and so I have seen people who are very old, fragile and sick and for the most part, they come out of surgery OK. I have researched this procedure and the pros and cons for over a year now and I think (hope & pray) that we'll be OK. I have started to stray away from reading the negative (complications) threads on this site. I am trying to place it in God's hands. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and I hope to hear from you when your surgery is over and your on your way!

I had the exact same feelings the week before my surgery. So did so many of us. So what you are feeling is normal!

I went ahead with the surgery and am so happy I did! My surgery was May 13 and I am now down from 217 to 164. I feel great, energetic. My BP (off of meds since surgery) is 120/50.

Of course, you have to follow the rules to the letter! Make good choices and make exercise a part of your day. In just a few weeks, you will enjoy the exercise AND the compliments!

It is not easy, but I have not struggled. Remember, the magic of the band is not the surgery, but the fill. Give yourself and the band time to heal after the surgery; do not worry about weight so much. Then start those fills!

I wish you the best. Would I do it again? YESYESYES!!
