Surgery Cancelled ::discouraged::

Yep my surgery is cancelled due to me having a abscess on my lower right back its above my buttocks. :cuss:I got it last monday but i thought it was a boil and it would be done by friday...well friday i went and did my pre op testing (that went great)..Saturday i woke up hurting worse then i had hurt all week and so i finally realized this is NOT a boil...something is wrong with me:nono:. So i went to the Minor emergency room :biggrin:. The doctor told me i need to tell my surgeon about the abscess and told me that he needs to lance it but he doesnt want to ruin my chances for surgery so he didnt he just gave me a whole bunch of antibiotics...So when i get home i call the call service for my doctor and off course hes not on call this weekend some other doctor is (:mad5:who is a asshole) I tell him whats going on and he says No way we will not do surgery on you when you have a infection:crying:. So i cried to my husband and got really really upset. i have been so good for my preop diet and it feels like it was worth nothing.:blushing: I cant have my surgery until this abscess is taken care of ... Im still so upset about this. I guess god is testing me to see if i really want the band. I dont kno.:rolleyes2:

So sorry you are having to have your surgery postponed. I know it must be discouraging, but try to keep your chin up and be as positive as possible. You have been making good progress and there is no need to set yourself back now because of this. Keep eating your protein, which well help with your healing and taking thos antibiotics. You will be back in line for surgery before you know it!

Firdt things first...praise God that you found it BEFORE surgery. You don't know, it could have killed you if you didn't know about it. People have died from absessed teeth. You are going to keep doing well, because you know this is the most imortant thing you have ever sone for yourself. Prayers are with you.

Ugh....so sorry! I had my pre-op appointment on Friday and was so frightened that they were going to cancel because I woke up the day before with a UTI. They seemed strangely unphased by it. They just told me to drink water! So...I called my PCP and told him that I needed an antibiotic. He agreed that it was strange that they would consider putting a catheter in with a UTI. I'm currently on 3 days of Cipro for the UTI and will be done by tomorrow.

Had I not felt well...I would have cancelled the surgery. We want to be in the best shape we can be going in so that the recovery is speedy!

I am sorry to hear about the abscess. I would call Dr. Collier in the morning and let him know what is going on. He may want to look at it and go from there. Did they open it up and is it draining well? Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
