this process is horrible

I don't know how to talk to anybody on here.  most times I write anything it gets ignored.  Other than being an voyeur I don't think this site is very good.  My VSG was scheduled 9/8/2017, I got a call from the hospital telling me that my surgery hasn't been approved yet, haven't heard anything from my surgeons office telling me anything.  SO I called my insurance and was told my surgery was denied.  I'm devastated.  I know I can appeal, but they said it can take 30 to 60 days to do that and I shouldn't plan on surgery next week.  I'd told my co-workers, bought all my post-op food, scheduled the time off.  scheduled my Mom to come stay with me, started my pre-op diet and have been working for months for this.   I've had to openly admit and talk about the worst thing about myself for months now, thinking it's going to be worth it.  everything is going to be fine.  IT'S NOT OK AND I'M NOT OK.

I finally got the information the insurance company wanted, still waiting on approval. I'm not giving up.

Did they say why it was denied?

My surgeon's office didn't check my packet before sending it in to make sure they had all my records. My insurance required my weights for the last 5 years and they only sent in one. I requested my older medical records and sent them to the insurance co myself. Still waiting on appeal letter.

That must be pretty frustrating. At least the denial was just for a technicality instead of a medical reason. Let us know how the appeal turns out!

Wow! So sorry you're going through this and also sad you feel invisible here on the boards. I want to encourage you to fill out your profile. Add a piccy or avatar to your profile! Start participating in threads started by other people. Especially hang out in the General Weight Loss Surgery Forum, because it's most active. Maybe you are posting in a "dead" area? I inserted the link to it for your convenience.

My experience has been very positive at Bariatric Pal: nice people, responsive admins...and trust me, that's not been the case at other WLS forums! But, I realize my experience isn't your experience.

Hope you will stick around and start diving in! ((hugs))

I got my approval yesterday!!! I'm so happy, I'm glad I stuck with it.

FluffyChix - thank you for the info, I can use a computer, but I'm not all into social media and don't really know how to navigate all of this stuff.

I'm an introvert and I'm working hard on vulnerability and socialization.

I'm trying to upload a pic of myself, I'll get there.
