Nerves Before Surgery

hello,

first, i would like to thank all those who share their stories. i have been able to find so much information and have had many questions answered.

my surgery is 23 days away and i am starting to get really nervous. i have been in this process for a while and i am sure it is the right step for me. now that it is finally "real" with the surgery scheduled, i am experiencing anxiety.

does anyone have any tips or words of wisdom to lessen the pre-surgery anxiety?

thank you.

I'm scheduled for August 24th also!! Semi-nervous but mostly just ready to get this done..The whole approval process took so long and now I'm just focusing on getting prepared I guess..

If you weren't nervous, you wouldn't be normal. Just focus on the fact that this time next year you will be THIN!!! Think about how life changing that is going to be and how exciting!!

I haven't had my sleeve surgery yet. I have the gastric band and it slipped so I am now waiting for the insurance company's decision on whether or not they will revise me to the sleeve. I am nervous about it too but I have been researching and looking at YouTube videos and there is so much positive feedback on the sleeve that I have decided to go for it.

You are going to be just fine and so happy you did it! I wish you all the best and I will be looking out for your future posts on you success!

Wishing you the best,

Sue

Mine isn't until 8/31 but I just wanted to say hi and tell you I'm nervous too. I just keep telling myself the first month may be kinda sucky (learning to sip, the dreaded week 2 or 3 stall) but for the first time in years I will actually let people take pictures of me at the Christmas parties.

You are going to do great. Keep reaching out and researching and you will feel much better.

I was just sleeved on 8/2. What you are going through is completely normal! I made two lists for myself of things I hate about being fat and what I am looking forward to after surgery. The things ranged from petty to major. I hated being judged on my appearance. I hated freaking out if I would fit in a booth, etc. I could not wait to delve into my 'skinny' clothes I had been holding on to for years. Just keep reminding yourself of your long term goals and what led you to start pursuing this surgery in the first place.
