Well I have just discovered this forum, and it looks great. I had my banding done by Dr. Ren at NYU on January 8th, so that would make today 19 days post surgery.

I did really well with the surgery. I went home the night of the surgery which was a Monday. I stayed home on the Tuesday and enjoyed my vicodin haze, and then I went back to work on Wednesday. If you think that is bad, after working on Thursday morning, I got on a flight that afternoon heading for Orlando. Yes, it's true, I went to Disneyworld three days after my lap band surgery while still on a liquid diet. I have to admit that sipping tomato juice while watching my family eat buffet meals wasn't particularly fun, but at least it gave me a sense of nobility.

I started my pre-op liquid diet on December 26th. I was supposed to start on December 25th, but I just couldn't. Even though I am jewish, my husband isn't, and his mom makes a kick ass Christmas dinner. It wasn't very easy starting on the 26th since we were in England for the holidays. The 26th is Boxing Day, and I had forgotten that I promised to host dinner that day. So my first day of my liquid diet was spent cooking wonderful food (including some great desserts). I did it though. I didn't screw up the liquid diet at all until the weekend before my surgery when I was at a Bar Mitzvah. I couldn't resist some of the appetizers.

I managed to lose 15 pounds pre-op on the liquid diet, and then another 10 post surgery through January 17th. Since then nothing, nada, zilch. It is a bit frustrating because I am staying between 1000 and 1200 calories a day. At my weight, the pounds should me sliding off me, but alas it ain't so. I do feel great because I have gone down a size. I am out of my cotton lands end pants and back into my size 22 jeans. Everyone keeps noticing how much weight I have lost. I keep explaining that they are getting the double effect. Instead of loose cotton pants that let it all hang out, I am encased in tight jeans that hold as much as they can in.

I'm hoping this plateau ends soon. I hate plateaus. I don't thing that's fair. I am still hungry a lot of the time. I know that I am not drinking enough water. It is really hard to remember to drink with the limitations. No drinking 5 minutes before eating and 20 minutes after. By the time I remember to drink something, it is either too early or too late.

I have my first fill scheduled on February 21st. I am curious to see what I feel like after that. Well I have written enough for my first posting.

Good luck to all that read this. Here's to us!

Welcome, this is a great site that is really helpful and the people on it are awsome. I'm amazed that you were up and around so quickly. Did you have any pain.....I have been reading that a lot of people have had a gas bubble stuck in their shoulder that was intolerable. I am hopfully getting banded in about 2 1/2 weeks from now. Anyways, welcome and I look forward in reading all about your future success! Nicole

BOY you were so good on pre-op diet! my only downfall was new year's eve--that was a BIG downfall (because i too, had to host the party, grrrr)--but the rest of the time, i really stuck to it. the vegetables were helpful--weren't they? i can't tell if i'm losing weight. i guess i am--my clothes are looser (they were getting tight). and you sound like you're doing fine now--you're going to wake up one day--and several lbs will be gone!
