Hi All! Today is the first day of the rest of my life, so they say! I went to my seminar, and I have everything I need to start this journey. I have my next to do list, and then the ball will really start rolling! Has anyone out there had the experience of being happy and excited about this decision, and then have your significant other, family, or friends bombard you with negative comments? Comments that make you feel ashamed that you can't just "eat less and excercise" to lose that weight? Don't these people understand how much we all have struggled and tried and failed with the regular weight loss tactics? And, especially when a thin person says those things, it hurts even more! How in the world would they know? How have you overcame these things? Is there a way to get these people to respect your decision and support you anyway? I hope it gets better, because I am determined this time. Thanks for any advice you can give me!

Hi ScentsLady, I can comprehend just what you are saying,my hubby was ok with me getting the lapband because he thought it wasn't so bad and I would be able to bounce right back but the more research I did the worst he became, boy oh boy when I told him that I was gonna have the vertical sleeve done he acted like I had made this desision for him,,he had a fit...but I sat down and explained it all to him then I told him I am doing this for ME and ME only not for him..and to even to extend my life with him and my kids...so when I found out the days of the support groups I asked him to go to 1 with me and just so happened my youngest daughter and my husband went..I was so excited that they did go to meet people that has had the surgery so that they can see that they are still normal even after thay had the surgery...I think they really appericate it a lil more..the idea of me wanting to do this for my health and just wanted to include them in they were ok with my desision to have the sleeve...so when you go to the support group meeting invite them to go with you...if they dont want to go then its on them...atleast you tryed to include them......I say go for it because I am going to for my health....I know in your blog that you want to be health..so have fun ---take lots of pictures now and all the wat through your journey so you have something to reflect back on and say I DID IT......good luck and my prayers are with you...

    • I’ve used my Xbox for exercise games too and it can be pretty motivating, especially on days when I don’t want to leave the house. Kinect games really do make you move, and after a session with kickboxing or dancing, I always feel like I’ve actually gotten a solid workout. The controller-free setup feels way more natural for workouts than anything I tried on the Wii. Zumba is fun but definitely takes a little time to get the moves right. Lately, when I’m not working out, I spend time trading CS2 skins and finding new guides on this link. There’s a lot of interesting tips if you’re into games outside of fitness too.
    • I'm literally almost crying reading this. Mostly because I'mon this pre-op diet and these last two days have been difficult... but also because I needed this! Thank you! Congrats! And a BIG congrats on quitting smoking a second time! It was hard enough to do it once... So - when I say BIG congrats... I mean BIIIIIG congrats! ❤️

      Einarmige Banditen
