1 Week After Surgery

I have to admit it was a rough few days. I am feeling better and getting around more and more with out pain. I am sick of liquid and today ate a few crackers. It felt so good to have something "real" . I just about can't eat anymoe strained soup, jello, pudding etc. I slept in a bed last night. That was awesome. Much better than a recliner! I go for my follow up on the 28th for one week. (surguery was on the 20th) I am excited to see what the DR has to say. Did anyone else eat "real" food the first week of liquids?

LAP-BAND Patients

My nutritionist and dr have said to begin eating soft foods (high in protein, low in carbs) on the 3rd & 4th day after surgery; and high-prot, lo-carb regular food beginning the 5th day--chew chew chew, tiny tiny bites, and put fork down.

my surgery is Mon.

I am on thin liquids for 2 weeks and then move to pureed food for a week, then mushy food for another week, then soft food another week and then real food the week after that! So I won't be chewing anything for a while! I am 9 days out! about 5 more weeks of strange eating to go for me! I do hear you about being sick of soup.... I bought a few new ones the other day but they all taste the same at this point. the Cream of Wheat is a nice change up for me.... Good luck with your journey!

I was banded 7/30 and just had my follow up this past Thursday. I started eating real food. Shakes are easier to make and drink than eat, I have decided. For dinner I had chicken and butternut squash. For a snack I had crackers with butter, I hate margarine. You need fat everyday. Good luck with the liquids. I make protein shakes with coffee or peppermint extract added to the chocolate and lots of ice cubes to make it a thick shake. They fill me and I am not tired of them at all.

I also was banded on the 20th. At first didn't want to eat anything, as it all tasted weird. Now am on "full liquids". I'm getting tired of just shakes, but add in cottage cheese and yogurt. Soups are still tasting 'off' and 'gag-y' so haven't gone back to try them again. For some reason I'm craving chicken! One thing I'm confused about is how I am still hungry all the time. I can only eat small portions at a time but seem to be hungry again in an hour or so.
