Week 2 Blues

Weighed in today, 319. Only 2 pounds since last friday. I know why and I have to change it. I've got zero restriction now that the swelling has gone down, I'm eating around 1200-1500 less than I burn each day, so I'm a little unsure at the lack of weight change. I know 2 pounds a week is a good rate, but it's disappointing. I'm mad and upset. But I know it's ok.

What am I going to do about it?

I'm going to get my ass out and walk more. I'm going to ignore the growls creeping out from my belly. I'm going to keep up my protein intake, my water intake and I'm going to keep logging every single piece of food that enters my mouth.

I am not going to be effected by this slow down. I haven't had a fill yet and I know that this is the main reason why my weight loss has slown down. I have my first post-op appt with my doc on Monday and I'm going to push for a fill. I just hope she agrees.

Weight loss issues aside, I feel fantastic. Walking is so much easier, I don't get winded as quickly as I used to, standing for longer periods of time doesn't bother me as much either. My clothes are fitting better and my face is noticably thinner.

I just have to stay strong.

Two pounds is a great rate of loss!!!!! Don't kick yourself like that, you have taken a very big step in getting lapband and your body had to heal!!!! Remember anything worth having is worth waiting for!!!! You will do fine!!!!! Good Luck!!!!

Yes please don't beat yourself up about it. I didn't get good restriction until the 3rd fill. It seems that at first after the fill is good and then you can eat more eventually but this last fill was the one that put me into the green zone for sure. I got on the scale today and have lost 42 lbs since my surgery on 9-1-11 but there was some weeks that I stayed the same and sometimes even went up a tad. You will get there. Keep up the good work! All of us on here are in the same boat.

Matt Z, I was banded 11/11 - I'm entering my third week and I feel exactly the way you do. I'm so hungry. I could eat a horse! I just watch the cows grazing and I'm thinking... mmmmm STEAK! I want pizza. I truly believe I could eat anything I wanted. Those noises in my stomach are telling me to do some really bad stufft. - HA I go today for my post op check. I wish I could have a fill already! Dr. Anderson doesn't do fills until you are 6 weeks post-op. I've heard of others doing them as early as 4 weeks. -- Stay strong!

1200 to 1500 calories is actually really good. You may not burn that in exercise but being a male at 319 you def burn more than 1200-1500 calories a day just existing. Keep in mind too while you're exercising, that the key to fat loss is muscles eating up the fat. Do the cardio but work on those muscles too!

Slow loss sucks I agree. A crawl will still get you there faster than standing still. Just keep on pushing even if it were as slow as half a pound a month it is a half a pound less than you were before. Just keep up the good work it'll pick up!
