sleepless nights...

I was banded on 3/31/11, so I'm on my 5th day of liquids. I was totally prepared for the surgery and the fact I would only be able to have liquids for two weeks, the thing I wasn't prepared for is the sleepless nights!

I sleep between 3 or 4 hours then its like WAKEY WAKEY RISE AND SHINE, it doesn't matter what time of night it is, my body seems to think I should be up and starting my day. I purposefully have not rested in the day in the hope I might get a full nights sleep, but here I am blogging away because I've been awake since 12:30am, its now 4am.

In the scheme of things I guess this really isn't such a big deal, when I look back at how awful I felt about myself before the surgery and all the pain in my back, knees and feet, Im truely blessed that at the moment all I have to concern myself with is more hours in my "awake" days:)

I totally hear ya! my surgery was 2/16/11 and to be honest with you, i still have trouble sleeping. i sleep on my stomach, always have! the port sometimes hurts. i don't know if it's the pressure or what but it def hurts sometimes. The first 3 weeks were the worst though! I slept on my couch, kind of sitting up on my right side. That was the only was I could really sleep!

Good luck with your journey and get some rest! <3

I was banded the same day as you. I have been sleeping an average of 3-4 hours before waking up. Are you on liquid codine? I think the reason I am sleeping so sporadically is because my medicine is forcing me to nap so frequently. Today is my first day without the medicine because I returned back to work today so I will post again to see if I am still having issues. Hope you get better sleep! I started video logging my experiences on youtube under user name labbandchicka if you want a diet buddy. Im using the internet for my support bc the support groups near me take place while im at work. Best of luck!

I was on liquid codine and was sleeping all the time! I don't really have pain anymore, so I don't use it. When I wake up I feel wide awake like its normal to be up at 1am feeling like I've had a full nights sleep...

Thanks to you both, it helps to read what others are going through, I will check out labbandchicka. Good luck!

I was banded on 3/21 and even now i'm sleeping about 4 hours and then getting into another position and doing about 3 more hours. What you have to remember also is you're nowhere near as active as you were prior to surgery so your body even though it's healing it's not being used as much. Try being a little more active during the day(as much as possible without ruining your recovery) and you may find yourself sleeping a little longer. Good luck on your journey(and sleep lol).

    • I’ve used my Xbox for exercise games too and it can be pretty motivating, especially on days when I don’t want to leave the house. Kinect games really do make you move, and after a session with kickboxing or dancing, I always feel like I’ve actually gotten a solid workout. The controller-free setup feels way more natural for workouts than anything I tried on the Wii. Zumba is fun but definitely takes a little time to get the moves right. Lately, when I’m not working out, I spend time trading CS2 skins and finding new guides on this link. There’s a lot of interesting tips if you’re into games outside of fitness too.

      Einarmige Banditen
