marw LAP-BAND Patients October 31, 201015 yr Author stats I am 3 1/2 months post op and have had a total of 2 sips of pop - maybe . . .I was told that the carbonation can stretch your band . . so it's just not worth the risk to me. I really haven't missed it . ..you get so used to getting in your water and other liquids, there's no time for pop anyways! Good luck.
.Maria. LAP-BAND Patients November 1, 201015 yr Author stats I also heard that it causes erosion... the carbonation leads to increased stomach pressure. Reason enough to keep me away!
fool4dance LAP-BAND Patients November 1, 201015 yr Author stats I'm am a non burper. I stuggle to burp ever. I had 2 sips of flat rootbeer 2 months out and wanted to curl up in pain. Not worth it to me. Erosion is a concern. Soda also contributes to ulcers, which nobody wants. Increase of the pouch size. And some people simply don't tolerate carbonation. Caffeine is also a stimulant that increases appetite.
aghealthy LAP-BAND Patients November 3, 201015 yr Author stats I have not had pop in a year. Sometimes I try and have sip but it does not even taste good anymore - yeah! But my doctor said the same thing, erosion and stretching of the pouch size. I have also heard in some people they have pain if they drank too much. So I avoid too!
