finallyncontrol LAP-BAND Patients October 22, 201015 yr Author stats do not just give up...there are medical loans...you can try elan financial services, health one, or go on lapband.com they may be able to offer other lending companies as well as your doctor may know of other places or ideas!! Remember if you want things bad enough you can make it happen! I am a self pay and then I saved all of my receipts..fought my insurance company and appealed their denials...11 months later I got refunded 70% of what I paid. Keep fighting...don't give up!!
BIGGZ LAP-BAND Patients October 22, 201015 yr Author stats THANX SO MUCH FOR THE INFO...I WILL KEEP TRYING CUZ I REALLY WANT THIS
Amanda1982 Pre Op October 22, 201015 yr Author stats Soory about that, I know I could afford it if insurance didn't cover it 80%..Have you found any other options yet?
sandradee0124 LAP-BAND Patients October 22, 201015 yr Author stats Get the rejection reasons and work on them specifically. For example: not on a documented weight loss program 6 months -- join weight watchers. That was one of the biggest issues I had. Don't give up without a fight!
Suznty LAP-BAND Patients October 23, 201015 yr Author stats I had the same problem. I had to receive a note from my primary doctor and forward it to my insurance company stating that it is medically necessary due to my comorbidities. Another reason was the stipulation that my IC did not pay for the surgery as an overnight stay. My surgeon ended up stating that I would be an outpatient unless he found it medically necessary to keep me overnight. Of course they kept me overnight and my insurance accepted that. I had to dig deep with the insurance company to get all the specifics so don't give up and be persistent. The appeal process can take very long. Mine took 5 months. But I was banded on the 28th of Sept. and down 17 lbs. Well worth the fight!
