Another bump in the road

Just when I think everything is set for my new mission - surgery date 10/8.....another bump in the road. Received a call today from my Patient Advocate that I need to bring $3500 to my pre-op appointment on Wednesday. Apparently, my insurance will cover everything but the surgeon fee. Don't take me wrong, I am grateful that my insurance is covering anything at all, but have no idea how to find $3500 by 7am Wednesday. UGH!!!!!!!

I am so sorry, but it will be worth every penny you spend. I paid $13,400 out of my own pocket for my surgery and would do it again if I had to. Do you have a credit card to put it on or how about taking a medical loan Do you have a 401K to borrow against? I know it isn't easy, but I will be thinking about you and wishing you well. Good luck.

If you ask to speak to someone in charge of setting up payment arrangements they may work with you. I was told I would have to have the whole 20% before surgery but after speaking to the supervisor over patient accounts at the hospital they worked out a payment plan with me. Well, I guess your surgeon would have his own account specialist.

Try Health One Financial or Elan Financial..they do medical loans. Don't get this far and let little things like this stop you!!

Your lucky to know now. I was told that I had a $750 copay due before surgery. I paid it at my pre-op appointment. Imainge my surprise now when I'm getting medical bills in the mail for 1,000's of dollars due in 90 days. I didn't know about these additional expenses, didn't plan for them. After draining my savings I still owe more than $2,500 in the next 3 weeks.

Working on a plan myself. Still would have been banded.

It has all worked out! Ended up having to pay $1500, but a whole lot better than $3500!
