Somethings never change...

Why is it that when you are feeling good and have a lot of hope that people kick you in the knees?

My surgery was on 7/28 and I have lost 36lbs already! That is great! I ran into an old co-worker/friend today and in our conversation I shared with her that I had LAP-BAND® surgery. She of course immediately told me I should have opted for gastric bypass because the people she knows that have had LAP-BAND® were not successful...

So I walk away from the conversation feeling panicked that I made the wrong choice and that I will not be successful. I can't seem to shake my doubts today...

This blog really sounds pathetic but I needed to vent.

that was really unfair of her! youve done great so far! you know who is successful with the band? the people who are dedicated to changing their habits and lifestyle, making good choices, following the rules and exercising. chances are, the people she knows who failed after being banded, didnt do those things.

as long as you follow the rules and are determined, youll succeed. keep up the great work!

People say unkind things when they are blind to others feelings or they don't understand what is presented them.

Lap-band, like anythign else in life, works for those who work it. The band alone won't work for anyone. Living with the tools as our guide will make us succesful.

Dang your doing something right if you've lost 36 already. Just keep doing you and your success will be your response. :)

You are doing so well already. She was stupid and heartless to say such a thing to you. Perhaps she is jealous - I am sure you loss is already showing and there are people out there that do not like to see other people do well. You keep doing what you are doing becuase you are doing great. YOU WILL SUCCEED!

Girl, haters are everywhere! Don't let them bother you! I know its hard, because I went through the same thing, but you will learn how to laugh! You are doing soooooo amazing, just focuse on that. And next time someone hates on you, just say if I were you, I'd hate me too! :) LOL Keep up the good work and keep us posted.

Don't let pessimestic responses from people that are not educated in these procedure cause self-doubt. Everyone is different and everyone's experience is different.

A reason I didn't choose the gastric by-pass because of the rapid weight loss and your stomach can expand over the years causing your weight to return, if you don't keep up the healthy eating and exercise.

Enjoy you success and shake off that remark from that hater.

Best wishes and Take care.

Somebody posted this on my blog the other day "ignore the haters". True. People make ill-advised, poorly researched comments that sometimes are intended to hurt and sometimes not. We have to learn to rise above them.

I keep trying! I'll keep helping you :-)
