Slow week......

Well, its a week past my post op appointment and I haven't lost anything since! I am down 25 since 7/13 and am very pleased with that, so I am not discouraged. I think I hit a plateau because I am having trouble eating enough calories - about 1000 a day (trying to get to 1200). I boosted my exercise today, so that should help. Anyone else experiencing this?

I ran in to the exact same situation when I started working out. I could only eat about 800-1000 cals/day and I didn't lose any weight for about 2 weeks. Added 2 small snacks (protein bars or shakes), upped it to about 1000-1200 and started back on the 2lb per week loss trail.

I think people call it starvation mode? Your body holds calories because your metabolism shuts down thinking it is starving -- too many calories expended against those taken in.

Good luck!

By the way, you are doing FANTASTIC!!!

I started walking everyday this week for 50 minutes and I've gained 3 pounds. How is that possible. I'm almost 5 weeks post op and no fill yet. I eat 4 - 5 ounces, 4 times a day with a protein drink everyday. Not sure what my calorie count is. I cried this morning and feel completely defeated!

Ditto what Sandy said! I was also having a problem getting enough calories so I started using www.myfitnesspal.com and it really helps track everything so if I am having a really low calorie day it makes me mindful and I will fit in a piece of watermelon or some cottage cheese something to help boost it up a bit. Also if your building muscle with lots of activity that is very likely your muscle weighs more than fat. Keep up the work you have already lost 25lbs and that in itself is something to be very proud of!! Do not get discouraged you are doing VERY well and even though there are weeks that you think nothing is moving it could be water weight, muscle, hormonal, etc.. Just remember the results are not always measured by that number on the scale it could be your pants fitting better, feeling lighter on your feet, etc.. Best wishes for continued success!!
