Hi all my fellow lap banders,

This is my first time on to blog so be patient. I had my lap band in Nov 08. I have lost 60 lbs. I know it is a slow process but come on. I have figured out how to cheat a lot. I am to the point that I vomiting multiple times a day and now I have throat irritation with blood streaks. I know I need my band lossened but I am afraid to tell my doctor that I have not been honest with him. HELP:frown:

I am going to be blunt, but you didn't get this surgery to become bulimic. I am 8 months in and have lost 52 pounds. All of this was done in the first 5 months, been stalled for the last 3 months, because I learned how to eat around the band. Also, I had to be tightened very slowly because of acid reflux. As I get tighter, I am now just experiencing the need to vomit. But I know why...I am not eating the right things, I eat too fast and too much. I feel your pain, but you have to be honest with your doctor and get this straight. There are some VERY serious consequences to what you are doing. They are there to help you. Good luck.

I am new to the band but seriously, you are only hurting yourself both physically and mentally. I eat things wrong and it gets stuck but right now I have no restriction so if I wait it will slide on through. Why would you want to continue to throw up? I would rather be tortured then throw up. I am losing slowly. I had surgery on May 12th and I know I don't know a lot but I have only lose 10.2 lbs. Losing slowly will give you a better chance of not gaining it all back. Give yourself and your doctor a break and let them know. You don't want to cause erosion or slippage and end up doing a lot of damage to your band or your esophagus from throwing up. Take care of yourself soon!

Hey read my post, It sounds just like what I said! I had my unfill yesterday and it really has made all the difference in me! I did not want to tell the DR. either, that was my greatest fear, but I got the guts went in and it was good for ME so just do it and get real with this journey, they don't know as much as WE KNOW about how we FEEL! Take Care!

Thanks for the advice. It has been 4 days since I last vomitted because I am really trying to watch what I am eating and keeping it at small portions. But I know I'm not out off the woods yet because I have to change my entire thought process.
