2 1/2 weeks away!

Well, I have my pre-op visit next Wednesday and my surgery date of 6/18. I am so excited but nervous. I am from a big family and have decided to only tell my husband. I have 4 kids ranging in ages of 17 to 1 year. Not telling anyone makes me a little nervous so I am hoping for some support on here :frown: It's very inspiring to read the stories. I've dealt with my weight my entire life and it's a lonely hell to deal with. I am looking forward to a new beginning. T

I have just started my journey with the lap band. I still have more boxes to check off before my surgery is scheduled. I have dieted my way up to over 300 pounds and the real me is under all of this. I too do not want to tell my family and will need this support system. My husband is really great. He has gone with me to several appointments now. We have talked extensively that this is only a tool and that is not the cure. I have been in this cocoon long enough. It is time for the butterfly to come out. My children are all adults and on their own with families of their own. I figure no more guilt for putting me first. I am mowing all the weeds down in my brain that have held me back or been in my way and making compost so that my new garden can grow and flourish and the butterflies will come. Sounds corny I know but I have to believe it is now my turn and I am so worth it. We can do this because we are worth it. Good luck to you and wish me luck on this journey.

Hey Tesa, did I give you good or bad chills? I was just typing and surprised how much I said. I don't usually let my thoughts out. Maybe now it is time. I am excited for you. It was late last night when I posted that and my brain was just going and going.
