October 2009 Surgery Date?

I am getting banded on Oct 19th! Crazy how time goes by. I am kinda nervous but overall excited about it. Don't know what to expect or how I will feel' date=' which is the hard part for me.

Is it standard that there is a 2 week liquid diet prior - or is that if you have a higher BMI? I wasn't told to do that. Mmmmm?

I will be thinking of you guys too![/quote']

My doctor doe not do the diet before hand, they just ask you to only drink clear fluids the day before

I was banded on October 15th, 2009. I was on a liquid protein diet for 12 days prior to surgery. The last 2 days before surgery I was on a clear liquid diet. I have been on clear liquids since surgery. I will see my surgeon on Friday, October 23rd and hopefully be placed on full liquids again.

My understanding the reason for the liquid diet is to make your liver smaller and hence surgery easier.

So far so good. It has been an experience.
