Ok, now I'm getting frustrated.

I'm sick to death of this liquid diet. I feel weak and tired and I want it to stop! I get hungry, but not crazy hungry so that's a plus. I can't wait until my Monday nutritian class, hopefully I can start on mushies then.

The thing that's frustrating me is that my weight has barely changed in three days. I can't understand how I can drink slimfast three times a day and not see a difference on the scale every morning. Meanwhile, my "weigh less than hubby" goal got stolen away when he didn't eat much for the past two days and dropped FIVE POUNDS. How wrong is that?!

I've been looking through success stories on this site and trying to picture the long term benefits, not just this last few days. I'm still frustrated, and just overall feeling yucky.

Just a thought, Slim Fast is higher in carbs and offers less portein than some protein drinks. I would advise you to try another brand of protein drink. I use a premixed EAS/Myoplex Carb Control protein shake, 17g of protein/110 calories and 4 carbs (which means less sugar). Try to limit yourself with the scale. I know it is hard but it can be frustrating and can undermine your mental success.

Just a thought. Good luck to you!

Have you looked at other protein shakes? I actually use the Whey Protein powder and mix my own shakes. I add bananas, peanut butter, cocoa powder and other things to it. I try to stay away from the scale, I would look at how your clothes fit first before trying to get on the scale.

The surgeon's office is very specific about the kind of shakes to use during the first two weeks. I don't remember the first option but the more readily available one is the slimfast low carb, that's what I'm on.

kcweir,

Hang in there, I had my surgery two weeks ago and just started soft foods after my nutrition class few days ago. Try not to weigh yourself everyday, it could be a total mental torture which will drive you to eat more and cheat once you are not on the liquid diet anymore. Set a day for yourself to go on scale and then celebrate your achievements . It will get better and better each day just be patient:)

In the hospital they gave me Carnation Instant Breakfast. 8oz has about 14 gm of protein made with 1% milk. So i stayed with that for the first 5-10 days Post Op...i cannot swallow those other shakes that are thick and chauky! I also got fustrated witht eh scale the 1st week...but then all of a sudden i lost 8lbs. Every body is different so hang in there. I have been in mushy/wet food and i have been getting hungry every 3 hours. I have my fisrt fill in 2 weeks...kinda scared since i dont want to be to restricted where i chocke on water.

Good luck!
