Questions, anxious, looking for some support

This is my first post turned blog:

Hi I am new on here and I just have a few things to throw out there.....I had my surgery last Thursday. I got the realize band. This is amazing it is going to change my life....if I can get thru this 5 week period to my first fill.

I am going crazy!! The clear liquids were very difficult for me. I am paranoid my band is going to fall off or not work or' date=' who knows what. Now I am on full liquids and I cant handle the shakes. I can handle one maybe. And today I just went a lil crazy and ate a piece of toast with butter and I ate it fast. It felt like it got stuck in my chest and I had to sit totally still until I felt it go down. Did I totally screw everything up now?? Do I need to call my doctor about this? I cannot have something go wrong with this, I will be so so sad. Is this paranoia, wantng to eat craziness normal?:blushing:[/quote']

Hi I get stuck all the time. It is not a very good feeling at all you are right about that. I even got stuck tonight. I have to eat more slowly and take smaller bites and let the food go in me slowly!!! I am just trying to remind myself so it will not happen again. It happens to many. You will find that you will be able to eat certain foods and maybe not others it is a trial and error thing. Did your Dr. give you the food list? That is sort of important. I hope you feel better and I do not think you hurt anything but always check with your Dr. Best wishes imaluckydog

Here is lesson number one in your new life change---chew, chew, chew and eat slow.

But wait...don't eat yet. Keep w/the liquids for a bit longer. Don't rush things, it will come.

Maybe make some jello? Or ice pops? Just to change it up.

When you get stuck it will hurt as you know. I too have had more then my share lately. I had another fill in July and I some times forget to chew, chew, chew and eat slower that I had a few months ago.

I found that if I walk, it helps things go down and produces a burp which gives a huge amount of relief!

If you come across acid reflux--I either reach for the tums or a small cup of milk. In the middle of the night I find that milk helps out quickly but before I go back to bed I'll also take some tums too.

Shakes: "you can't handle them"--is it cause of the taste or that you can't drink them down?

Because your a newbie--you should be sip, sip, sipping right now only.

Keep us posted or if you have a question; go to the chat line. There is usually someone there that can answer most questions.
