Hi, I am just wondering if anyone else has had really painful swelling at the port and band opening? I had my surgery monday and the lady next to me had hers at the same time. She did not seem to be in any where near as much pain as i was, the pain is a lot more extreme than i thought and i am freaking out a bit!! I was just wondering if anyone else had a lot of pain also?

Hi there, My mom and I had the surgery together I didnt have any swelling but she had an allergic reaction to a adhesive solution they used to keep the wound together. It started out a swollen and turned into and awful blistering rash. I'm not saying you have that, but if your someone who has a lot of allergies you def want to keep an eye on it and if it gets any worse go straight to a dermatologist but be sure to call your surgeon first. Also I really only had pain from the gas and the port when I moved around like getting out of bed or trying to bend down. Good Luck, it will get better

I totally know what you're going through. I was banded last monday (8/17), and experienced a lot of discomfort around the port site. If it's too much pain for you to bear, call your surgeon, or you may be over doing it, or not doing enough. By my second day after surgery- i walked over an hr with my mom and son. The quicker you get moving around, it should ease some. If not, like I said contact your surgeon, and express your concerns. Hopefully that was able to help some. Good luck!

Thank you for all your support. It has now been one week two days since my surgery, I reckon on the fifth day I finally started to feel better and since then I have got better everyday. The port wound has bled a little bit after a shower which was quite scary, I had to go to the doctors to get them to clean it up and bandage it. But other than that all is good! I have lost seven kilos since I had the surgery a week and a half ago and hopefully by christmas I will only have thirty kilos to go! I can't wait! Well wishes to everyone xxxxxx.
