Oh brother!!

I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH MY BROTHER AND HE IS TRYING TO CONVINCE ME NOT TO GET THE LAP BAND. TELLING ME THAT I CAN DO IT ON MY OWN.. HELLO.. LIKE I HAVEN'T TRIED TO LOOSE WEIGHT ALL MY LIFE.AT ONE POINT I WAS 50 LBS HEAVIER,AND I DID LOOSE THOSE POUNDS,BUT I CAN'T SEEM TO GET ON THE BALL AGAIN.... I HAVE BEEN A CHUNKY MUNKY FOR YEARS. IT IS FRUSTRATING TO ME WHEN MY FAMILY IS NOT ON MY SIDE. DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE FAMILY OR FRIENDS THAT ARE LIKE THAT?

I know how you are feeling. I have 3 brothers and 2 of them are skinny and the one is over weight. He actually had the lap band surgery done over a year ago and has be successful with it. My mom was the one that wasn't very supportive of it with him. I haven't told her yet that I'm planning on having it done too. My mom is over weight and will most likely be resentful that she won't be thin. I don't know if your brother is over weight or not but I have found that it is really easy for thin people to think that you should be able to do it on your own. They don't understand and never will. If your brother is over weight then he is jealous that you will be looking good and he won't be. You have to listen to your body and follow your heart on this. Tell you brother that it is your decision and that you need his support and not his advice. One thing I have learned from watching my brother is that this is NOT the easy way out. It is a lot of work and you really can't decide to binge one night with this or you will be sicker than a dog. It is still a heck of a lot of hard work for you. I look at it that the lapband is going to be my buddy and work with me. good luck and listen to your heart!
