Does Lapband back fire often?

I"m getting my band in September and I"m getting a little nervous. I have seen all of you and you all look great losing all that weight. Great job everyone!!! However, I have a friend who got it done and she was losing weight at first but now she is gaining weight and the doctors dont understand why? Does anyone know if this happens often or if this is one and a million chance of this happening? Please help?:blushing:
