Hi all... I'm back, and not in a good way. I had lapband surgery in Sept 2008 and by Jan 2009 I had lost 60 pounds from a start weight of 279. WTG me!! In Jan 2009 I had a medical issue that sent me into a deep dark depression which I really have yet to totally come out of.. BUT... I have been in therapy and I am on meds that are working very well. The biggest part of my depression now, stems from the fact that I have gained all of my weight back and over the last 2 yrs I have had serious problems with my band. Animal protein almost always gets stuck. I am almost totally unfilled, so that has left me with little control of my appetite and restriction. I turned to slider foods and anything that I knew I wouldn't get stuck on. Here I am today... now back up to 280 lbs.. and NOT a happy camper. My feet hurt, my hips hurt, my back hurts... I have depression, HBP, sleep apnea, GERDS, arthritis and edema in my feet and ankles due to compromised veins from a DVT experience in 2005 (pre any WLS).

In 2008, my previous surgeon talked me out of RNY and into LapBand due to my prior history of DVT. I am soooooooooo sorry I listened to him. I have had several surgeries for other things since then and have survived without another DVT issue. I know he was erring on the side of caution, but I knew then and I know now that restriction alone doesn't work for me. I NEED a malabsorptive procedure. That is the reason I have decide NOT to go with the VSG, although I see excellent results with it.

I am 58 yrs old and I don't want to be on all of the meds I am currently on when I retire in 10 yrs or so. These are supposed to be my golden years and right now they are pretty tarnished. I want to feel alive again and participate in this great big world instead of watching it all go by from the sidelines. I know I am making the right decision in seeking a revision surgery :-)

Thank you for reading me.
