Originally underwent Lap-Band surgery in May of 2006.  Overall weight loss was 30-40% of goal.  Initial weight of 320.  Now average around 280-285.
Over the years, developed some minor complications of pretty constant heartburn, infrequent nightly aspiration of fluid, and from time to time, the inability to get food down.  I underwent an endoscopy in January of 2016 and it was discovered that there was some distal erosion due to acid reflux.  My gastroenterologist recommended I revisit my Lap-Band surgeon for an unfill until damage had subsided.  As I suspected that once I had the band refilled, I would experience the GERD again, I decided to pursue the possibility of having a revision surgery; Gastric Sleeve.  I inquired with my doctor, and started the approval process in January of 2016.  I was approved for the surgery on March 15, 2016 and have it scheduled for May 20, 2016.  I will be having the band removed and undergo the sleeve revision.  I have known individuals who have had great success with the sleeve and the idea of not having a foreign object in my body is very appealing.  Plus, the results are better for long term maintenance of goal weight and the idea of not having to go in for fills and maintenance is also appealing.  I am looking forward to the surgery in April!
