My name is Rachel and I had a gastric sleeve on the 5th of January at University College London Hospital in the UK with the NHS.I needed to have pelvic surgery but the surgeons would not operate because of my size.I tried for years to lose the weight without success so was referred to the Bariatric Clinic at UCLH in order to get me down from 137kg.
The procedure was assisted by a robot so I only have six small puncture wounds which means I am not in a great deal of pain.I was discharged after two days.I am on a liquid diet for two weeks.I am meant to drink 2 litres a day which I am finding quite tough as its taking me over an hour just to drink one glass.Hopefully it will get better.I go onto a pureed diet for two weeks after this before proceeding to more solid food.
I am looking forward to seeing the results from the surgery .I lost 5kg on the pre operative diet of soup and yoghurt and I've lost 2kg in the two days i was in hospital.I've been told to aim for a 1kg weight loss each week.
