3rd fill and restriction gone....

I had my thrid fill a little over a week ago. For the frist 2 days after I had pretty good restriction, but now that feeling is totally gone. I am not having any problem eating anything and I was before.

I am just confused why this would be.

I have 3.2 in a APL (14cc?? band) he is telling me that that is the amount in my band and that I have more between the port and the tubing (maybe 2-3cc)....help!!

I can't get another fill until 1/5 and I am worried that my progress so far is going to be affected.

I am trying to up my workout to compensate.

thanks for your advice!!

Pookie, I am sorry that you have an ultraconservative fill doc. I wouldn't expect you to feel restriction til 5 or 6 cc. Can you go in sooner for more? My doc's are ultraconservative and I have been working on getting the right fill for a year now.

Best wishes,

Mimi

pookie, from my experience, that's not unusual at all. The extra restriction you feel the first couple of days can be due to swelling. Just try to stick to healthy eating as much as you can, and understand once you have better restriction, it'll feel a lot less like dieting because the band really does reduce your hunger, as hard as it might be to believe now. Also, if you have fat that's formed around your stomach, once you start losing it, your band may loosen between fills, but after the fat pad is mostly gone, your good restriction will last much longer.

Someone in my support group went back after one week to get another fill when he had no restriction. The earliest I ever went back was two weeks. Some doctors hold their patients to a stricter schedule, but I imagine it might be hard to schedule something between now and Christmas, as I'm sure their operating with a reduced staff due to vacations.

(ot: When I was a kid, on of my best friends was nicknamed Pookie).

I still sometimes get too loose after a fill. That is why this last time, I got filled a little more than usual to try and keep that tighter feeling. It takes a few times and until you reach that spot, it is difficult to have restraint. I have found that as time goes on, my development of healthier eating has become a matter of routine and it has made it a lot easier to stick to my goals.
