From the research I've done I've found there isnt a LOT of a difference but there are some differences.

Realize Band:

- Smaller port

- It has a low pressure system ie more room for saline to be injected in the band and less pressure on the band

- Port is secured with a stapling system

- Comes with an online support system

Lap-band

- Has been around the longest

- Larger port

- High pressure system, less saline, more pressure

- Port is secured with traditional sutures

- No online support system

Those are the main differences I can think of off the top of my head. If you want to confirm it or find out more just do some searching online and I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for. Or just ask your doctor about it, different surgeons prefer different bands. Mine prefers the realize band and that is what I have.

Oh, my mistake. It's new isnt it?

You know, I have no idea! I'm three weeks out, so it's all new to me. I've used it a bit here and there, but I love this site for all my questions and answers more!
