pre op diet ?'s....

HI there! My doctor doesn't require a pre op diet, but after reading up on the benefits, I have decided to go at it anyhow. I am staying lower carb and fats and higher Protein. My question is that I have noticed that I am peeing like crazy, and It smells like a nasty cardboard medicine cabinet. Anyone else??

I have been drinking a couple of high Protein shakes a day....so is this all just normal?

(my surgery date is december 3rd)

Hi there...

Just read your post... you are probably in a fat burning stage called ketosis... this happens with high Protein and low carbs... and it makes your breath and your urine smell strange. When you are in it you are putting ketones out in your urine, hence the odor. Just a thought, it could be something else too!

Oh and good luck on your surgery... mine is on November 17th!
