In college I looked into joining the military and then tore my ACL and needed some surgery. I believe that I was going to have to have another surgery to remove the hardware to join, so I'm not sure if the military will let you in with an implantable device.

My mom is a retired ARMY recruiter and the answer is absolutely not! And I'm pretty sure that goes for all branches of the military...

I don't know if you will be allowed to join with a lapband, but I can tell you that you can be in with one. I am in the Cdn Mil and I have an OR date for a lapband in Jan 10.

Many military treatment facilities do not have a surgeon that is credentialed to provide follow-up care that is needed after LB surgery.
