Im getting a little freaked out

Ive been on my liqued pre op diet for 15 days now my problem is I think allergic to them or Im just run down. My gums keep swelling and my lips are so dry nothing helps them. I never get cold sores unless I have the flu and real run down and guess what I have a couple really bad ones. I told the nurse and she never heard of that before and gave me no other options. It scares me because they want you in really good shape for surgery but Im run down. And yes Ive been drinking 10 cups of water a day so its not that. I have 6 more days to go untill surgery YIKES

Call and see if you can change shakes. I'm allergic to one of the artificial sweeteners and some things (like sugar free popsicles) make my mouth break out.

Otherwise I'm sure you're fine. I did 5 weeks and 2 surgeries on a diet similar to yours and I was 20 years older! I know we aren't all alike but I know it gets tedious to just drink your meals. You'll get through it, you really will! You should be getting adequate nutrition from the shakes; your body is just pitching a hissy fit because it is used to getting lots and lots and lots of food.

But do tell your doc you may need to switch protein drinks because you will be on liquids for a while post op (very important, that, as you know!) And your PCP can give you something to take for the cold sores.

Having said all that you know yourself best...if you REALLY thing you are sick, not just body rebelling, call the nutritionist and tell him/her your symptoms.

Hang in there.
