For those of you who have FSA benefits or a flexible spending or health spending account through your insurance, you should know that you are already allowed to purchase any of the OTC medication, including the Gas-X and the anti-nausea meds, but I inquired with my adminstrator and she said that since we are required to have special supplements ( vitamins, protein supplementation..etc..etc) those can be covered as a FSA eligible expense as long as we get a note from the doctor stating that it is a nutritonal requirement due to surgery and submit it with our claims for reimbursement. This also applies to an protein shakes that we buy for pre and post op diets since they are "medically" necessary.
