Hi to both of you fellow Mainiacs! I thought I was the only one. I am in the process of waiting for insurance approval. Everything else is in place. I notice that this forum hasn't been visited in a while. Hopefully someone will check in and chat with me.:P By the way, I am from the Augusta area.

May I ask you all, who is your doctor? It seems that New Hampshire doesn't have any surgeons that does the Lap Top band. Thanks!

My Doctor is Cameran McKee from Augusta Surgical Associates. There is also a Dr. Morand there. They were the first Dr.'s in the state to do the surgery. I have heard nothing but good things about both of them. See the following link for information on Dr. McKee.

I will have my surgery in September or October. I am just waiting for them to mail me the dates. If I could be of any more assistance, please let me know. Do you mind if I add you to my buddy list?

Cindy

Thankyou so much, Cindy Lou! Could you tell me how long it takes to get an appointment with them, and how long the process is before the schedule the surgery? Thanks again so much for your help, and by all means, add me to your buddy list. It would be great to have someone close by for support. :)

They have some requirements that they may be willing to change for you since you would have a lot of travel time. The first thing you have to do is go to a seminar which they hold montly as a rule. Then you have to get a referal from your Dr. Then the insurance battle begins. You also must attend 3 support group meetings prior to surgery. I would give them a call and see what they can work out with you. I got my surgery date this morning and I will have it on September 28th. I started the process in May so it didn't take too long for me. Usually, the longest wait is the insurance approval.

Keep in touch!

I went through a roller coaster of emotions. Excited, thrilled, scared, wondering if this will work, wondering if I was setting myself up for another failure, etc. This seems to be a pretty common feeling with bandsters. Please start walking, drinking a ton of Water, not eating with meals, and waiting at least an hour to drink after your meai. It will put you that far ahead of the game when you have your band. You'll do great!

I am almost three weeks out, after having the surgery.. I am finding the most difficult part of the entire thing is when people want to eat out.. and for a while I can not. OF COURSE, eventually I will be able to.. but right now I am very limited on food consumption.. I am also finding that there are lots of different foods that offer the satisfaction that I crave. Squash, and other veggies (yes including Peas) taste pretty good pureed with alittle lowfat butter and S&P.. I have dropped about 35 pounds so far.. and I just think the Docs were great.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
