Just a little discouraged - need some help!

Well here is my story, I was banded Nov 24, 2008. I have had 3 fills and I definitely have restriction. I can eat about 3/4 of a cup or 1 cup sometimes. I have lost about 48 pounds since surgery, which I am completely excited about. But here is my problem, I have lost about 6 pounds since February 21st. What is going on? Actually my scale is up and down usually the same 5 pounds constantly. I can't break this plateau. I am unsure what to do? I walk at least 3 times a week and up to 5 times a week on a good week. The past two weeks I have read other posts and thought maybe I should up my calories. I went to thedailyplate.com and it said to up my calories. I usually eat about 800 calories a day and so I upped them to about 1200 calories a day. I have also increased my Protein as well. And still the same 5 pounds are up and down. I just feel like what am I doing wrong?:eek:

aww you were banded on my birthday!

see i've been at the same weight for a month, but it's because i'm eating badly on the weekends:thumbdown:

If you are eating right...why don't you start writing down your food intake and posting it on the thread in this section (what did you eat today). It helps all remain accountable.

I asked my doctor your question a while ago and he said this (and he put it bluntly):

If you are eating right, staying within a good calorie range for you (varies depending on each person) and exercising you will lose weight. If you aren't--you may think you're doing it all right, but you are not (for your body).

That being said, again post it up here so we can maybe look at the types of foods you eat and see if you can swap out things that might help you out of your slump. Losing weight is all math--you have to burn more than you eat. I hate this!! I Wish i could eat more than i burn hehehe

Way to go on the weight loss.

Are you able to try exercise other than walking? Can you strength train a bit? Or, can you try interval training? I started out by walking for 2 minutes and running for 30 seconds. I have worked up to 1/1 walking/running. Strength training and interval training should boost your metabolism.

Don't get discouraged, plateaus are totally normal. You are doing fine.

More exercise, don't eat after 7:00PM, drink more Water, maybe it's time for another fill. Only you can know because all our journeys are individual ones. I lost 60lbs in the first 4 months, 10 lbs total in the next 3 months, and now 10 in one month. I'm not sure why.

Just keep your spirits up and never give up. Watch yourself and learn the signs. I found that I can tell certain little things when I'm in weight loss mode, like I pee a lot more, I'm thirstier, I have more "nervous energy", my hands get colder easier, etc.

Thanks for the response. I am going to try to change things up a bit. Actually last night while walking I started to jog a little and I brought along my arm weights to walk with. I definitely could tell the difference in my work out.

Also gonna try to change up my food as well. I usually eat alot of the same things and maybe I just need to change things up so I can see my scale move.

You are right where I was a couple of weeks ago. I was banded 10/28/08. I have lost apx 60 lbs most of it in the first 90 days. I was on a 30 day plus plateau. My problem was that my eating and exersise habits were inconsistant. You are better than I with your dissapline with exersising. After my last fill I have droped about 15 lbs in about 4 weeks. Your body probably thought it was starving itself. Which if you think about it "it is". This is why you see the dramatic weight loss.

My thought is that I will try to make more good choices than bad ones. As long as I continue to loose weight gradualy I still win. Each day is a new one, don't worry about yesterday and make the most of today.

Were gonna LIVE!

Dave

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
