Surgical question-Mesh

Hi. I had abdominal surgery about 14 years ago and they put mesh over my abdominal wall for hernia preventitive. Can the surgeon puncture this to get my band in? It just dawned on me tonight. I have surgery scheduled for June 12th and my consult on Friday. Suddenly I feel terrified!!!! What is the criteria they would use if they had to "open you up", I don't want that!!!! Any advice, where others scared? I am also afraid they will go in and find something else and say they had to close me up...am I turning physco? I would feel reassured to know others felt this way :crying:

What were you all afraid of?

Thanks!

Jill

Hey Jill, have you discussed these previous surgeries with your doc? If not, be sure and bring it up. The more information your doc has, the better he'll be able to plan. You certainly don't want to present him with a "surprise" on surgery day!!
