HI all! Ive received a lot of negative feedback from the hospitals regarding Bariatric process with United Healthcare. I was just wondering how long you all had to wait after your paperwork was submitted for the insurance to approve the surgery? Also, any feedback on how what I can do to speed up the process? I had United Healthcare PPO and I was approved within 3 days. had my surgery within 30 days. But I had to use a Dr that was in network. They wouldn't pay any out of network for weight loss. I had a BMI of 43 and had 2 cormorbitities. So that might have played into them approving it so fast. I didn't have to do any 6 months waiting period. We sent pix, a letter from my Dr's and a letter stating what I have tried in the past to lose weight, sort of like a time line of my weight loss/gains/failures.

I know each UHC policy can be different and also some companies exclude it.

I went to the doc for the first time on the 3rd of June and had my surgery on the 27th!

:lol:Wow, that's awesome. i started the process on the 5th of January and am scheduled for surgery on June 1st. i cant wait, after all that i had to go through and now its finally here
