I would be a little wary about signing anything. Be sure not to make any commitments until you have approval in writing from your insurance company.

I was given my surgery date about 2 months before surgery. My approval did not come through until about 5 days before surgery. I spoke with the doctor's office and then with the insurance company (BCBS) and they said that approvals are not given until a few days before surgery. Just don't sign anything committing yourself to do 'self-pay' if it is not approved. Make sure the approval has been received!!

Good luck!

the nurse in my doctor office call me the day before surgery that morning saying congrats you been approved i am like(WTH). my surgery date was january 13th 09.they submitted to insurance nov 29th. during the info session. they say it takes two weeks to comfirm but it was during the holidays, everyone was on vacation i was really shocked. because the nurse was nervous herself.she got the call that morning.

I agree with this. Be careful of what you sign, inlight of not having insurance approval yet.
