Pre-Op Jitters

I'm new to the site, but have been reading some things on here and realize I am not the only one with Pre-Op jitters! It's nice knowing I'm not the only one "freaking" out about the whole thing.

Any ideas on how to handle being as anxious as I am? I still have 10 days till surgery and I'm already second guessing myself. I can't imagine how it will be 2 days before.

Also, I did read on one of the posts someone mentioned getting a heating pad. What exactly will I need that for?

The heating pad is for the gas pain. But be careful utilizing it if you have dissolving stitches.

I was nervous too during the pre-op diet stage as well. Just keep yourself busy, continue to educate yourself, get into a walking routine now, and follow your doctor's instructions regarding the pre-op diet.

Good luck!

I'm having surgery on March 2 and I'm also freaking out and it's still more than a month away. Just found this site and so far a lot of good stuff. Have not heard about gas pains, nice to find out the down side also. Was worried that it would not work (they will not take my insurance so it will be coming out of my savings).

Thanks for the encouragements! I really appreciate it...and thanks for the heating pad info. I wouldn't have even thought about it.
