Medicine Questions

I take a couple of meds that are time release and one is a square pill. Will I still be able to take these medicines this way? What about vitamins, etc.? Any advice is appreciated since these are prescribed by my other doctor and I need to get with him if this needs to be changed.

You need to discuss this with your surgeon and your prescribing doctor.

I'd ask the surgeon first, for direction, because while he is NOT the prescribing doctor (as you said) he IS the doc familiar with the band and how differently we absorb pills etc once it's in place. He can give you some guidance so you'll know what to tell your prescribing doctor when you talk to him (and you most likely WILL need to talk to him!) Once you are banded and restricted, often time release pills are contraindicated because they just sit up in the little pouch and dissolve (timing is all wrong). Your best bet is to take this to the docs!

I take a thryoid pill every day. I also take an Iron pill and Vitamin D pill daily. I have no problems taking these pills.

I do take a chewable multi-vitamin, b12, and calcium chews. And liquid Tylenot when needed.
