Post-Op Reporting in!

Okay, it's worth it. I can say that now. After an overnight stay and enough gas to light a fireplace, I'm a happy bandster.

I'm still on liquids, and after one experience tasting a Protein shake, I won't cheat again. That, I promise you. The discomfort is not worth it. Trust me on that one.

I'm not hungry at all. Not one bit. My tummy rumbles frequently, but I think that's gas. I still putt around, if you get my drift.

Surprisingly, I have very little pain. liquid Tylenol takes care of it very well. Okay, I'm ready for another nap. Back to bed. LOL!

Good luck tomorrow. We're thinking good thoughts for you. Please let us know how you're doing when you're up to it.

Congrats on the smooth recovery:thumbup: I am hopping on the bandwagon next week. Actually a week from today to be exact!

I'm SO excited but this pre-op diet sucks. I'm currently on day 4 of my 10 days required. I will probably never want Jell-o again:) LOL

Thanks for the update, I'm glad you're doing well!!

We are being banded on the same day .Best wishes and I hope you recovery is smooth and fast . I am scared but looking forward to living a healthier life . Again Congrats to you .

Peanutband is here to check in. I DID IT!!!! I think this was worth it also. I am up but still hurts on the bottom area with some pressure in the chest area. Do you all had that too! Is this normal? I am fine in the long run. I had to sleep in the recliner and I hope to be able to sleep in my bed tonight. How long did it take for you all to sleep in your beds? I am not hungrey at all.

Yep that pain is normal! It eases up after a few days but I'm at day 5 and still have some. All I can say is walk it out! Its a lifesaver. I wish I had a recliner! I have a bed (hard to get out of) and a couch (not comfy to sleep on). I slept in bed the first night. I was just fine in it but had DH get me out of bed or I'd be stuck! I wasnt hungry at first but now I get a bit hungry but nothing a very small meal cant fix. Literally tablespoons of food is filling. Glad your happy with your decision!

I am getting much better everyday. I was able to sleep in my bed lastnight. DH also helped me in and out of bed too. I am in love with sf popcicles right now. They do stop the hungry pains I think I am having. My belly makes all kinds of nosies. I hope this stops soon. Has anyone heard from mommaof3boys yet. She was done the day before me.

Tablespoons of food is filling... I can't wait for that!

Jan. 22nd - right around the corner... It's so nice to come here and hear all your great - early banded - stories.

Best to all -

All I can say it does get easier very day. I am now able to sleep in my bed like I use to which was on my sides and belly. Whoohoo!

Hello!! My date was Friday- 9th. Everyday is getting so much better!! Lovin' the naps!! LOL However, I do have a dry-erase board on the wall to remind me to take my antibiotics (every 8 hrs) , pain (every 4 hours) & walking (every 2-3 hours). That was a lot to remember, especially when you're kind of out-of-it from the pain meds. =) :tongue2:

I don't think that I am having hunger pains, it's more of my brain says - hey girl, you havent eaten any Mexican food or have our family friday night pizza. You "should" be hungry. So, i did bring out the hot cocoa, it told those voices something else!! LOL

There are a few things that I am learning on my own.. ya, dont lay down after you have drank.. give yourself some time to let it get down, you wont have any air bubbles. I feel like a baby, honey- please pat my back to burp me!! LOL

Congrats Peanutband:thumbup: so glad you made it through ok...I know you had moments of doubt but now it sounds like you are excited! I still have one more week of liquids:mad: but I will get through it like all the rest did.....keep us posted on your progress. I don't have a recliner!!!!:tongue2:

Hey! Thought I would check in to say hi to some fellow January bandsters. Same month, different year though! I was banded Jan. 9, 2008. I can still remember how I felt the week after surgery! The first week was pretty rough for me. If you're in a lot of pain, I promise it will pass. Seems like most of you are handling it pretty well though, which is great!

JenzNewLife09- we were banded the same day! I can't believe it's been a year since I was banded! Before you know it, it'll be Jan 9, 2010 and you'll have been banded for a year!

Just wanted to congratulate all of you on getting and banded and wish you and the rest of the New Years Hotties getting banded this month a lot of success with your bands!

Have a great week!

Congrats Peanutband , I'm so happy you had made it through so well, I did say a pray for you . I'm 2 days away from having mine done and must say still scared as hell ,but I'll be alright (I hope). One thing I wish I had was a recliner my girlfriend gave my her pull out bed (couch) just for the reason of having the surgery .I've slept on it for 2nights just to see it would feel ,and I must say it SUCKS! I can only image how hard it is going be after wards . I do have a king size bed upstairs ,but my bathroom is down stairs. The 1/2 is under construction (upstairs) has been for 2weeks now .I have a lounge in my living room ,I think I'm better off in that and besides it's already broken in . Again best wishes ,and now you on your way !

Hi y'all! Sorry I disappeared on you. I felt so great, I returned to work and was buried. LOL!

Anyway, what Peanutband had is normal. I had a sensation of "back wash" and discomfort when laying horizontal. Fortunately for me, I had a bed wedge left from a previous medical condition. Now I sleep normally, and this morning awakened to find myself on my stomach! That's happy. I'm a tummy sleeper, and missed it.

Doc warned me I might experience some pain around the port area when I visited him Thursday, one week after surgery. He was dead on. I'd been feeling some new pain, and over the next two days I was back on the liquid Tylenol. It did go away, and by Sunday morning was forgotten.

Now the big problem has been constipation after I started consuming soft foods. (Ahem!) I tried a certain herb tea, and while it did the job, it was sloooow. In desperation, I'm trying Metamucil because it's psyllium. Only problem is, it really fills up the stomach pouch. I have some mild discomfort, but a cup of hot liquid like coffee pushes it past the stoma where it can go to work.
