Post Traumatic Strees Disorder

My insurance denied me because the counselor in the pysc eval said that I have post traumatic stress disorder that stems from my childhood and being raised with an alcoholic father. I sleep walk and talk but am not suicidal and do not think about death. Is their anything that I can do to get approved. I don't really think that within 1 hour and some questions, it is fair that he label me with PTSD. I was really looking forward to this and now I feel my chance is gone. Any words of advice?

Get some help, and then reapply! I think it's great you're dealing and aren't suicidal, but sleep walking/talking is a sign that something's up. Why not get healthy inside AND out? If you don't like that psych consultant, you can surely find one you like and trust. Once you are under his/her care, it's possible they will write an acceptable eval and you can proceed! I know it seems unfair but there are some problems worse than being overweight. You need to take care of all of you!

If you REALLY don't want therapy, ask your surgeon what s/he suggests.

I'm not really against therapy but I guess I didn't expect it to cause the surgery to be denied. I have walked and talked in my sleep all of my life. Everything seemed to be going smoothly until this.

I'm sure that's frustrating. Mine was postponed because my liver was too large so I can kind of understand!

Seriously see what you can do so that it can proceed. I'm sure there's something...therapy or whatever! At the least, a 2nd opinion!
