Gastric bypass?

I meet with my surgeon and his team yesterday. The surgeon has talked me out of banding and suggested a bypass.I'm happy enough with this.It is all happening really fast.I have been given a date,25th November,3 weeks from today.I have all sorts of emotions going on.I'm excited and I'm frightened but I'm sure I'm doing the right thing.

Jackie.

Don't take this the wrong way but are you trying to convince the world or yourself?? I sense that you felt pressure from the surgeon for this "choice", with your statement "happy enough" .It might medically be the best choice for you, but it doesn't seem he has you convinced of that either. It never hurts to get a second op - better before they cut out 20% of you insides then after.

Jackie, how much weight do you need to loose? Research both options and you be the one to make the choice. Do not let your surgeon pressure you one way or another. I agree that you should also get a second opinion and also talk to you PCP about your choices. Bypass is a huge undertaking, that is much harder to reverse in the long run. Please research both options, it is never to late to change your mind.

Hey girls,thanks for your responses.

I think I have given the wrong impression.I have looked at both options in depth and I agree with the surgeon.Bypass is the best option.

I'm not able to repeat the reasons Ive been given well enough so so I wont try but believe me I think I am doing what is best for me.

Thank you for your concern and advice.I'm sure we are all going to do really well and come out the other end in good health and looking beautiful.
