Your doctor should have explained that to you.

In order to digest solid food, your stomach moves and churns up the food.

The band needs to heal on your stomach without your stomach digesting solid food. Eating too soon can cause a slip later on down the road.

thanks alot, i ddnt know that..well it makes sense but yea...i kinda cheated, im off to gr8 start :S well i ddnt do anything too bad, i hope..it was just 2 spoon fulls but i made sure i chewed really well...ok i wont do tht again ill stick to the amazing liquids...cuz im a little bit scared atm..i hope i ddnt do too much damage :S:S

There are some good threads that explain it in great detail. There is one written by FaithMD. You could do a thread search and find it.

Eating too soon and cheating is something we all want to do, but once you read the reasons behind it, that helps. I would never want to lose my band because I couldn't follow directions but it helps to know why you need to follow them.

The preop liquid diet is to shrink your liver. When the surgeon goes in their to put the band on, your liver is large and in the way. But if your on liquids, it shrinks considerably. Wich means less pain for you, because the doctor wont bruise or have to move it around so much, And easier access for the doctors, because they dont have to deal with this big ass liver in their way lol. :)

She was talking about the post op diet. She already has her band on the

9th of Oct.
