What is the Process?

Ok First off I am Kaiser.. that makes a difference i hear..

I saw my PCP last week and she did my weight and height stuff and ordered my thryoid blood test. And also did my referral to the surgeon office.

Today Bariatrics (spell?) contacted me and set my schedule for the Seminar, which is Nov 4. I guess its a 5 hour meeting..

My question, what happens now??

I'm with Kaiser in Hawaii. It's a long process. 1st the orientation which I waited for 6 mo. after the Dr. recommendation. The weigh in and test are done just before the orientation. You are suppose to lose or at least stay at that weight till surgery. I was into 8 mo. before my surgery date. Now a little faster. You need to attend 4 classes with the behavior analist, 4 dietary classes, 3 or more visits with BMC. 2 more one and one with the behaviorist. Attend at least 4 webtiles sessions. 2 physical therapy exercise class. After all that you finally attend Bariatric Surgery pre=surger group session. Visit with the pharmacist. and finally meet with the surgeon. It took me 8 mo. Some did it in 6 mo. Good luck to you it was all worth while. Learned alot. But this board is the best......Aloha:smile:

Which Kaiser are you going to? The process is not exactly the same at all of the Kaisers. I went to Richmond Kaiser in CA and it took me 3 1/2 months from orientation to surgery.

any updates on Richmond Kaiser? I have just been referred there but have not heard anything yet. It ihas been over a week.

What do you know about the program. Very curious and how was the orientation?
