Scar removal

I had my surgery on May 15, 2008. I have 3 small scars and 1 scar that is rather big on my stomach.

I was wondering if anyone has used Mederma, or something of the sort? If so, do you recommend it?

Thanks for the input! :)

I have used Mederma on a scar that I hated and it worked as well as I expected it. It is still there but it is lighter and a lot smoother than before. If it is something you want to do, I say do what makes you happy. :)

I haven't tried anything to diminish the scars, but you might not want the larger scar to disappear. That is probably your port. Imagine your dilemma if the surgeon couldn't find it to give you a fill!

I am using "CICA-CARE" it is a scar treatment gel sheet. I have been using it three weeks now and I'm happy with the results so far. I don't think my scars will completely disappear but they say you get UP TO 90% improvement and I am more than happy with that. There are other brands of gel sheets just look up on the net. Hope this helps.

Does your insurance cover dermatologists?

They can asses the scar and give you the best treatment for the type of scar you have.
