Thyroid change after lapband?

Recommended Posts

Hi eveyrone. I'm 5 months past banding and down about 68 pounds. I just had all new bloods drawn and suddenly, my thyroid is showing as "overactive". I have a feeling that all that's happened is that the weight loss and activity mean my thyroid works a bit better and I probably just need to lower my prescription for my thyroid meds. When I used to weigh in the 240 as I do now, I took a lower dose, so maybe all this is is my body needing less to keep on an even keel.

Has anyone else experienced this or anyone have any other thoughts?

Thanks

What I would give to hear that my thyroid is overactive. No change in mine since the band. I've never heard of that. Keep us posted on what you find out.

Not yet, but my endocrinologist warned me to expect it. He said that as I lose weight, I will likely need to lower my Synthroid dosage. I get my scripts 3-months worth at a time and he recommended only getting a 30-day supply at a time and watching for signs of too high of a dosage (mainly heart papatations).

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
