How do you know if your port has slipped.herniated?

I'm 7 weeks post op and awoke this morning with severe pain in the port area. It's searing, hot, like a knife, just like is was after surgery. I am afraid to move. The upper edge of the port is more palpable under the skin of my stomach than it was before.

I am away from home for 6 more weeks (no way to visit my doc who is thousands of miles away).

Does this pain sound familiar to anyone? Talk to me. I am concerned.

i never had the pain your describing but if it is that bad you really should call your surgeon and explain this to him, he may suggest you go to the nearest er. good luck to you and i hope you feel better....irish

When my port flipped, I actually had no symptoms and didn't even know it until we were unable to give me a fill. I think Irish gave you very sound advice. If you are in a great deal of pain, you need to call your doctor and explain what is going on and he will advise you what to do from there.
