Hello from WV

Hello all, I am getting ready to go to the seminar and in hopes of changing my life for ever. I have already got pre-certified from my insurance so hopefully the next 6 mo. will go by quickly. I am very nervous but excited. I am looking for new friends and experiences so talk to me and I also would like to know other peoples receipes and do's and don'ts regarding diet after the surgery. Beck:wink_smile:

My total was $3000...I have a high deductible insurance plan. But...everything is covered 100% once my deductible was met.

Jennifer.. 3000 for both of u is not bad.. My hubby and I paid a total of 3400.00 for both of us.. It seems like a lot but just compare it to the 16k u would be paying with out insurance if you were self pay..So you are doing pretty good  It will work out.. best wishes to you ...

My appt with Kaplan went great. I was feeling a little queasy from not having anything in my system but liquids though. I did the blood work they needed that day, didn't need another chest xray etc. My EGD is friday morning and my Surgery is the 24th at 1pm. Preop is going well...the first 2 days I felt sick today I just feel really tired. I did my phone interview yesterday afternoon and I am going to meet with the anestesiologist the morning of surgery. These shakes are horrible...but it's not too bad if I blend them with LOTS of ice. I wish I had a scale I want to know if I am losing. I've only been having around 400 calories a day so I have to be really. I see Jeannie on monday to make sure I've lost 5 lbs if I haven't I have until surgery day...Kaplan told me I only need to lose 5. He is a very nice guy. Easy to talk to etc. Either way surgery isn't too far away! I'm a bit scared about the EGD though lol...never had one before. What should I wear to it? I wasn't told that but he did tell me to have my piercings out I think. As far as I remember. I've been foggy since Monday LOL...and hungry.

Wear something comfy. Take some house shoes or something to walk around in, you dont want to walk in a hospital barefoot,GROSS. NO jewelry. Dont take anything of value, the hospital is NOT responsible if it gets lost or stollen. I took my teddybear. Kaplan made fun of me, but oh well, she was with me through my 10 day hospital stay and surgery last year, she was with me for my lapband, and she was with me for my spiderbite. I made her :D. You might want to take something to do if you are not one that can just sit and watch TV. Maybe even take some PJs. Once they take your IV down, you can wear whatever you want to. You will do GREAT.. Mom will be a week out THursday and she started on Full liquids yesterday. She is doing GREAT. She decided she does not like protein powder so she is just sticking with slim fast lol. I will be at Jeannies at 12:15 Monday for a fill, what time will you be there?

My appt with Jeannie is at 11am I'll prob be there a few minutes before. She told me it would last 30 minutes. She is going to weigh me and I dunno what else...I am just hoping I am down 5 lbs. Eating this few calories i would say I HAVE TO BE lol.

SO wear comfy clothes on friday for my EGD and no jewelry?

Dominic Holl is the DEVIL!!! Every year I put in a large corporate order of Holl's Choclates...the DEVIL just came in and brought each of us one of their chocolate covered carmel apples and a box of chocolate. Sorry Lindsay...:D

aaaack dont mention food especially chocolate -die- lol

I have to pay 1700 at my EGD i think I was told...thats the 10% of my lapband surgery the insurance didnt cover they told me to have it for the EGD...dunno why we pay it then but yeah lol

Man, Im glad I didnt have to pay anything up front. I would have never been able to have the surgery if that were the case... NO jewelry for EGD either. Comfy clothes if you want, your just be a little drowsy that day.. Jeannie will be going over all the post op stuff and you will sign some papers and stuff like that. Lindsey will go over the post op diet with you...

Jennifer... Thats tough!! I have been CRAVING sweets. I have yet to have one of Holls Apples or Mrs Prindables(spelling) from QVC.. Mom has had them, but didnt share with me lol..Im glad I dont work at the hospital anymore because MY GOODNESS doctors send ALL kinds of candies, fruits, foods, not to mention the Cheeseballs from the management... So hard to turn that junk down at times.

HEELLLPPP!! I am going through Icecream withdrawel!!!!!!!! I REALLY NEED SOME ICECREAM!! lol.. how pathetic is that. Im eatin sugarfree pudding, its just NOT the same.*pout* I REALLY want some icecream!!

The Biggest Loser had a banasplit Sunday on it last week that was low in calories...it sounded good.

It was a Jello pudding cup of somesort for 50 calories and then they added whip cream to the top for 20 more calories. It looked good to me....IDK if it is or not...but it made me hungry! lol :tongue2:

Got my EGD done this morning. Decided to weigh myself before I went in. Down 11 lbs since first day or preop diet. -39 total :tongue2: Found out I have a hiatal hernia that has to be repaired when i get banded on the 24th. Woopie.

good for you froggie on the weight loss. I think mom lost about 15 pounds during her preop.. Mom also had a hiatal hernia that had to be repaired.. Im so glad I got out of having to have an EGD.

EGD wasn't bad at all i was back in recovery before I knew it and I never even knew I had something down my throat cept it's sore.

Found out today that we met the deductible with insurance so we only had to pay 5% of the surgery price so we only paid 820 bucks today instead of 1700!!

How do they repair a hiatal hernia? I've been told it will make it take longer for recovery by some and more painful. I love the staff in the south tower...awesome people. Can't wait until my weigh in Monday and my surgery the next monday!!!! :Dancing_sorry:

Froggi- Congrats on the weight loss! That's awesome!

Elizabeth- I know what you mean about the ice cream! I picked up some in the store yesterday, carried it around for awhile and then put it back. :Dancing_sorry: It was so hard!!!

Dr. Kaplan thinks I might have a slow leak in my port. I talked with Jeannie today and I'm scheduled for Monday to have my fill amount rechecked/added/etc. My restriction is getting less and less everyday. I'll let you all know what happens.
