Hello from WV

Hello all, I am getting ready to go to the seminar and in hopes of changing my life for ever. I have already got pre-certified from my insurance so hopefully the next 6 mo. will go by quickly. I am very nervous but excited. I am looking for new friends and experiences so talk to me and I also would like to know other peoples receipes and do's and don'ts regarding diet after the surgery. Beck:wink_smile:

OK, I'm planning on making it to Zumba Monday. It's at the building next to NOE, right? Used to be or still is a karate type place? I know it's somewhere in this message but what time does it start and how much is it? I'm excited!!

p.s. I'm a narcissist too! And OCD because I expect my work to be perfect. Boy to I regret telling my hubby he called me a narcissist! LOL

yep, gotta do it. I tried a $50 container of it from GNC. I actually got it on sale. The guy told me it was top of the line stuff. Mom is regretting the fact that she threw it away about 2 months ago because no one was using it. I used about half the container. I think they are going by Jeannies scales since she goes back to Jeannies office Wed(the day before surgery) to get weighed in. I surprised DrKaplan doesnt get a new, upto date scale since he is now, and the group will all be doing the bands. You would think they would get a bigger scale. Oh well.. Have you tried Slim Fast for your protein? Mom and several other people have done/are doing the slim fast low carb drinks. With that, you dont have to add protein to it. Oh Im so glad I am past the liquid protein supplements. lol

I don't care what I have to do. I will do whatever it takes. Sounds like Kaplan's scale doesn't go up high enough to weigh me so I am most likely stuck with 391. :rolleyes2: Kyla gave me the 2 containers of whey protein she had left over that she didn't like and I plan on getting the chocolate too cause she said it was good. I am actually looking forward to getting preop started. I'm tired of waiting. COME ON NOVEMBER 10TH lol

Ugh...one of my friends is telling me that getting cut open and risking infection and wasting money is a mistake and that I don't need to go that far to lose weight because I've been losing on my own...the only reason I am losing on my own now is because I am GETTING SURGERY. Aduh. I think he pretty much lost my respect....he told me I am making a huge mistake because this will require money and such the rest of my life. He can kiss my rather large shrinking ass. :rolleyes2:

LOL omg what a moron...he just called lapband a stupid costly plan for weightloss i can do myself. Oh god if he only knew.

Oh and he just told me If i listen to doctors they will kill me :rolleyes2: I think someone has a fear of docs.

How much did all you Kaplan bandsters lose during your first week of preop?

How much in the entire 2 weeks?

I was never told I had to lose 10 in 2 weeks I was just told I had to lose 5 in the first week. I was told I would most likely lose 10 or more if I follow the diet. All I have to worry about is that my tummy is A-okay for surgery in the EGD, and losing the 5 lbs.

And of course...being impatient waiting for the rest of my appts and surgery! :hurray:

I lost 15 lbs on my 2 week pre-op diet. I did not cheat. If you follow it exactly you should lose more than that, because you're starting higher than me. Good luck! I'm getting excited for you!!!:rolleyes2:

Oh I was told why they have the set amounts of weight now. Lindsay said too many people were gaining on preop or not losing anything. I've already lost 28 lbs so maybe that's why I only need to lose 5 on preop...or they just didn't tell me about the 2nd week yet. According to what Jeannie told me I just need to lose 5 the first week November 10th-17th and on the 17th I get weighed and if I am down 5 then surgery is still on...but who knows...

I honestly don't understand how you could gain on the 2 week pre-op diet! If you drink the 2 shakes, eat the lean protein and veggies, you will lose. Jeannie made the comment to me at my last fill that she can tell who is cheating and who is following the plan based on weight loss. I know you will succeed! Just follow it and DON'T CHEAT. It's only 2 weeks. My husband followed it and did not cheat. He lost 20 lbs in those 2 weeks. His start in those 2 weeks was 320 and he was 300 day of surgery.

well they only told me i had to lose 5 the first week of preop i dunno if i have to lose more than that or not...they told me i would have no problem with it and they know i dont cheat cause im still losing now I was down 2.5 lbs yesterday well the 31st. Lindsay told me she can tell when people lie. I just want to know if Im not being told about the 2nd week? ya know? cause elizabeth's mom has to lose 10 I want to know if I have to do 10 too. I cant afford to have my surgery postponed with the insurance. But like I said Jeannie and Lindsay only said to me that I needed to lose 5 lbs between the 10th when i start preop and the 17th when I see Jeannie...they didnt say anything else. so who knows

Kyla how much did you lose in the first week? More than 5? lol

Oh also Kyla did your preop weight go by Lindsay's/Jeannie's scale? cause im going by Lindsay's I think according to her

That's great! Keep up the good work! Neither my husband nor I were given a set amount to lose in that 2 week period. The only thing he told my husband was that he wanted him to have a "steak liver" not a "cake liver"! :rolleyes2: He told my husband that if he did not follow the 2 week diet that he would know when he got in there for surgery and saw his liver. He said if the liver was too soft, he would stop the surgery and make him reschedule. Neither one of us had any problems with our livers, so I'm sure you will be fine. Just make sure your dinner choices are low fat, low carb and high protein.

Oh also Kyla did your preop weight go by Lindsay's/Jeannie's scale? cause im going by Lindsay's I think according to her

I think I lost 10 the first week and 5 the second. My preop went off of Jeannie's scale.

Oh...my husband just said that he told him he wanted him to lose 10 lbs in those 2 weeks. (He ended up losing 20 lbs). He did not tell me any specific amount to lose, though.

BTW- I have become such a slave to the scale. I get so mad when I don't lose or am up 1/2 lb or something. I have decided to stop weighing for now. I'm going to try to only do it once a week. I'll update when I finally break down and do it! :rolleyes2:

thanks for answering me kyla if you can lose 10 lbs in the first week i should be fine. :rolleyes2: now i dont feel so worried.
