Hello from WV

Hello all, I am getting ready to go to the seminar and in hopes of changing my life for ever. I have already got pre-certified from my insurance so hopefully the next 6 mo. will go by quickly. I am very nervous but excited. I am looking for new friends and experiences so talk to me and I also would like to know other peoples receipes and do's and don'ts regarding diet after the surgery. Beck:wink_smile:

Im feeling great. I think it was just a bunch of irritation from being stuck. They are going to try a protonix instead of nexium, so hopefully that will help the reflux. We had chicken the other night and when mom made it, she made sure it stayed moist. Oh it was soooooo good. I make sure I OVER chew now lol.

Question for you guys who are already banded....can you eat salad? I eat some sort of salad every day for lunch now, I really like spinach salad the best. Can I still eat it? I'll ask Lindsey next week when I see her, but I'm just curious. I'd imagine it'd fall in the "chew chew chew chew forever" category.

Becky my husband also had an appointment with Lindsey yesterday at either 9 or 10, I can't remember. He never gets on here though, but I wish he would.

I was scared half to death to eat a salad. I was banded in July and finally about 2 weeks ago tried my first salad. IT WAS SOOOOO GOOD! Thing is, you have got to chew it up really well. CHEW CHEW CHEW.

I have no problem with salad and I don't find that I have to chew it much more than anything else. I eat salad about once a week with grilled chicken on it and do fine.

I have a hard time eating cold cheese (metled is ok, go figure!) and crust from bread. I do ok with toast without the crust. The other night I had a piece of cold pepperjack cheese and even with taking small bites and chewing till I was blue in the face I felt some discomfort with it. It's strange because otherwise I don't feel like I have alot of restriction. Guess I'll put that on my list of things to avoid. :)

My husband has about 6cc in his 14cc band and can eat salad without any problem, too. He usually does ok with toast, too. It just depends on the time of day he eats it. Not sure about the cheese with him....

Its funny that the salad question came up....I was seriously thinking about that on Friday when I was eating a salad! lol Im glad to hear we can still eat salads...they are my favorite!!

Approximately how much food are you able to eat at one sitting? (1 cup ?)

OMG I'm so stupid!!!!! I've been really watching my portions. I don't know how much weight I've lost (if any) but my jeans are alot looser. And I've been doing things like taking off half the bread on sandwiches. So today for lunch I was just NOT feeling my ususal salad. So I had a bowl of potato soup and half a turkey sub (with half the bread). Not the best, I know....then one of the girls in here brings me a pumpkin pie blizzard from DQ. Where were you guys to smack my hand and say "no no put it down"? My stomach is KILLING ME!!!! I feel like one of those little bloated puppies not knowing when to stop eating. Ugh!!!!! :smile2: Don't tell anyone but my jeans are unbuttoned behind my desk.

Becky - YEAH!!!!! Im glad you are coming to line dance Thursday!!! :smile2:

Jennifer - I've been there...lol Food pushers are evil!

I feel like I should be doing something today, like going to Zumba, but NOOO its a holiday lol.. Ok so I got on my scales today and they said I was down 5 pounds in a week. Before I got too excited, because my scales are known to be wrong even though they are weight watcher scales, I went to the Banding center after school to weigh myself and those scales said I gained a pound! that really sucks! On the brighter side, I measured myself last monday and then again today and I lost a total of 1 inch WHOO HOO! Im really starting to see it with my clothes. My mom goes to see Dr. Kaplan Monday and they told her that her surgery should be 2 weeks from then.

I have my psych eval next Wednesday....why is it 3 hours long???? That seems like a long time to spend with a head doctor!!!!

Elizabeth-Congrats on the nonscale victory! I have been ravenous all week. I don't know what's up. I go for a fill next Monday, so maybe that will help?

WVU-Fan- The psych eval was a huge waste of time and dollars. Mine was 4 hours. $800 later I learned that I was an OCD borderline narcissist. Yeah, whatever...

That pysch eval is such a waste! He wasnt worth $700 by far!

Kd, do you go this coming Monday or the next? I go for a fill on the 20th.

$700 - $800!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's insane!!!!!

I hate being questioned about me.......im so dreading it!

Interesting fact: Linedancing burns 296 calories an hour for someone who weighs 145 lbs......I must be burning TONS of calories then! lol

Heck, the psych doesnt ask the questions, they are all on paper and they are multiple choice! I felt like I was in school. They are very stupid questions at that. He told me that I have trust issues especially with men. I forget the other things he told me, it was pointless. Oh yeah, said Im depressed.. YA THINK??!! Ive only been taking effexor for about 5 years now and can cry at the drop of a hat. LOL before I was on effexor, if someone looked at me and said Hi, I would start crying.
