Banded Yesterday - Questions

Recommended Posts

Well, I did it! I was banded yesterday morning. Everything went smoothly. I did more waiting to get the band than I did in recovery. I do have gas trapped in my chest so its painful to breathe in but its a little better than yesterday. It might also have something to do with having a heitial hernia repaired too.

I also have a fanny pack on with some kind of medication in it being pumped right into some of my incisions. Its stupposed to empty and then I'll pull it out. Or if its not empty by Sat afternoon I'm supposed to take it out. Anyone else have this? I've never heard anyone mention it before.

When you guys say walk - how far? I've just been pacing in the house and out to the driveway and back every time i wake up. Is that enough?

Congrats on the band!

I started walking about 15 minutes each day and then adding on minutes as I felt better. I did this on top of walking around the house, etc. Try not to stay still for too long, the more you move, the more the gas frees up and gets out of your system.

Congratulations on being banded!

I tried to get out of my chair and walk every 1/2 hour. I don't know how far I walked or how long. I did not have many calories so I tired easily.

I used gas X strips which helped a lot as well.

Good Luck!

I had one of those mine was called On-Q painbuster. I think it was great. It numbed the area around my incisions. It was really weird when my husband pulled it out though. The tubes were very thin but way longer than I expected. I think it took 3 or 4 days for mine to empty. Good luck to you!

I was just banded on 8/20 and am experiencing some gas pain. However, I walk around the house and try to drink a lot, thus causing the gas out one way or the other! I feel like I am a bit of a baby. I can't really get comfortable and seem restless. The night in the hospital was hell, but I made it! liquid is going down easily and hopefully it will be a smooth ride.

My hospital stay was not fun either. I wish I had gone home!

The gas pain will go away eventually, but it does stick around for quite a while. I am 3 weeks out and occasionally get bloated or pain in my shoulder.

Take your pain meds on time and keep a heating pad near you. It does help!

Good luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
